Vietnamese vs Filipino Women: What You Need to Know About Dating Them

Introduction

We’ve all heard the great things about Southeast Asian women. Their beautiful, feminine, and know how to treat a man right.

There are several different countries that make up that region, each with its own unique culture and flair.

Two popular choices among men that visit that region is Vietnam and The Philippines.

But which one reigns supreme in the dating world?

Should you date a Filipina or a Vietnamese girl?

In today’s article, I’m going to discuss the intricacies of dating Vietnamese Vs Filipino women and what you can expect when dating either of these females from their perspective countries.

Looks and Attractiveness

Vietnamese girls tend to have much fairer skin compared to your typical Filipino who is more tanned. Vietnamese girls avoid the sun like the plague.

Often times when I am out and about, I will see Vietnamese girls covered up to the tees wearing all sorts of clothing, gloves, socks, and hats to protect their beautiful delicate skin from the sun to try to remain as pale as possible.

Filipinas on the other hand on average tend to have darker-tanned skin. You may come across a few light-skinned Filipinas in the more northern parts of the country but for the most part, your average everyday Filipino will have brown tanned skin.

In terms of facial features, Vietnamese girls have a more east Asian look to them, similar to Chinese. This is especially true the further up north you go like in Hanoi.

Filipinas on the other hand, usually possess full lips and flat noses. Think pacific islander look and you have a good idea of how a typical Filipina looks like unless they come from a mixed heritage.

If we are to compare body shape and size, Vietnamese girls are slim and skinny!

You will be hard-pressed to find any fat girls here. In fact, I think I only saw like 3 overweight girls in my entire time here in Vietnam.

Finding fat girls is like trying to look for a unicorn, your chances of seeing one are slim to none unless you are camping out at Mcdonalds or KFC.

Vietnamese girls are under a lot of pressure to maintain a slim figure, as being seen as just chubby is considered unhealthy and a major deterrent when men look for wives here. With all of the female competition over there, a girl can’t afford to let herself go if she wants to hand herself a man.

Diet

Now with this point being mentioned, you would think that gym culture would be huge here, but that isn’t the case.

Instead, Vietnamese girls rely on more than just hitting the gym to lose weight. It all comes down to their diet and maybe some walking thrown in to give that fat-burning furnace the extra push.

The Vietnamese diet consists of a combination of carbs, meats, fresh herbs, and vegetables. This gives the cuisine a nice balanced harmonious palate and making it one of the healthiest cuisines on the planet!

As a result of this, Vietnam has earned the praise of having the lowest obesity rate in the world!!!

Filipinos, on the other hand, are 5 times more likely to be obese compared to Vietnamese people, despite having the second-lowest obesity rate in Southeast Asia. With these two profound differences in diet, one can expect there to be quite a difference in body shape and size.

Filipino cuisine is carb and protein-heavy, with a lot of dishes being fried. Lechon for example, is a suckling roasted pig dish that is very popular in the Philippines, that is loaded with fat and calories.

In addition, fast food is abundant all over the Philippines. You can pretty much find any American fast-food chain over there.

To further rub salt into the wound, Filipino’s consume copious amounts of rice. It’s not unheard of for families to eat mountains of rice during dinner. Rice is king in the Philippines. This has lead to an ever-increasing waistline for many Filipinas.

Portion Sizes

Filipinas also don’t age well due to the diet that the people consume over there. In fact, you will quickly discover that trying to eat healthy can be quite the challenge over in the Philippines, especially in big cities.

Every block you go to, every corner that you pass by will most likely have some sort of fast-food chain ready to load you up with carbs so that those new pants that you just spent a fortune on, will end up being locked away in your cupboard, never to be seen again unless you go on a rigorous diet.

To further exacerbate the problem, fresh vegetables and even some fruits aren’t exactly cheap by local standards.

Furthermore, portion sizes in the Philippines are somewhat similar to what you would find in North America. Taking everything into consideration, this is a recipe for disaster.

Luckily, despite their diet, most of the girls in the Philippines still remain relatively thin and possess more of a skinny fat frame vs their Vietnamese counterparts who are more true to the word slim and skinny.

Vietnamese girls eat like mice here. I was quite shocked at this when I first discovered it. What the Vietnamese pass off as a normal portion size is considered a child-size over in North America.

When I first got here, I oftentimes had to order 2 or 3 portions before being filled up, all the while getting weird stares from locals who were stunned at how much food I was consuming for a single person.

They probably thought I was a pig or something.

Even with these small child-like portions, Vietnamese girls take remaining slim to the next level. A lot of times, they only finish half of their portions.

Often times when I was out on dates with girls, they would only eat like 2/3 of their meals and tell me they were full already.

It’s no wonder why the women are so slim here. You can’t get fat when you’re just eating 3 slivers of meat, 1/4 cup of carbs, and half a plate of veggies.

It is for this reason that I don’t recommend that you ever take a Vietnamese girl out to a buffet. She will barely eat anything before crying out that she is full!

Ask me how I know this!

Despite being slimmer than Filipinas, Vietnamese girls are quite well proportioned and you can expect a good sizable amount of Vietnamese girls to have a nice figure to compliment their frame.

This was quite a nice surprise coming from North America, where a lot of Asian girls that I met were flat-chested and had no ass.

Vietnamese girls are also slightly taller than Filipinas. 

Unfortunately, Filipino women are the second shortest in all of Southeast Asia.

With that being said, Filipinas have a curvy figure which many men will find attractive.

In this department they have a tiny edge over Vietnamese girls, however, I suspect this is due to the extra fat that they carry around caused by their diet. If it weren’t for that simple fact, I would say relatively speaking, Vietnamese girls are more curvy.

Both types of girls are small and petite, so don’t go there expecting to have Big Bertha come knocking at your door.

With all of these physical attributes being taken into consideration, I would say if you prefer a female that has a more pale like skin tone, with east Asian features that is quite slim and petite then Vietnamese girls would fit the bill better, however, if you’re into the more tan-like skin complexion with a more curvy figure then Filipinas might be your cup of tea.

Personality

Both groups of girls are quite friendly and caring.

Vietnamese girls, on the other hand, tend to be more reserved and shy. Sometimes, it can take quite an effort to bring out their personality and fun side.

Also, they are very critical of being teased and get offended easily if you’re not careful with the teasing. However, they can remain quite loyal and supportive once you’ve gotten to know them longer.

Having a caring and nurturing personality comes second nature to Vietnamese girls. Often times when I am out on dates with them, they would help get me things while I went to the washroom or hand me eating utensils or make sure I got home safely.

In addition, Vietnamese girls can be quite needy and high maintenance, expecting you to either call or text them every day otherwise they will accuse you of not caring about them, especially once you start dating for a while.

Filipinas can also be quite clingy and one can even suggest that they are carbon copies of Vietnamese girls. However, despite being clingy Vietnamese girls are more independent and can manage their daily errands without your involvement.

Although quite clingy and needy, Filipinas do possess really great caregiving skills that are further exemplified by their bubbly fun-loving personalities.

Filipinas have a more outgoing and fun personality that is laid back compared to Vietnamese girls. They can also be quite sweet at times, helping you out in moments of need.

Now due to the amount of foreigners flocking to the Philippines, especially the simps (aka human doormats), it has caused a good chunk of the females to become spoiled due to foreigners throwing money around like idiots and letting disrespect in relationships go unchecked.

These men are like a plague wherever they go. Not only have they destroyed the dating market back in their home countries, by supplicating to every female’s beck and call, but they have brought over this shitty behaviour to other countries as well, infecting the local female population.

As you can imagine, this has caused a decent size of amount of females, especially the ones that have been exposed to dating foreigners to possess a bit of attitude after being repeatedly being conditioned by these men to do as they please.

Vietnamese girls are also not immune to this, but due to the low English levels, A lot of these low-value men often times prefer to visit a country with better English penetration.

Thank god for that!

Femininity

Vietnamese girls despite being very conservative really know how to bring out their feminine side.

I was completely floored the first time I started to date Vietnamese girls here in Vietnam. They were nothing like I had ever experienced over in the west.

You will really learn to appreciate sexual polarity once you start dating a Vietnamese girl.

The women here know how to dress and take real good care of themselves. Being fat is seen as a sin and disease that many women would rather perish than be inflicted with.

Acting like a lady and taking good care of her man and family is one of a Vietnamese girl’s top priorities in life.

Most Vietnamese girls learn how to cook at some point in their lives, and if they didn’t, they will be more than willing to give it a shot to cook up something nice for their man if you just ask them.

Several of the girls that I dated in the past, would either bring me food, cook for me, and help clean my place, without me even prompting them too.

When I mentioned that my wrist and hand were hurting from working all day on the computer, a Vietnamese girl that I was seeing would give me hand massages to help relieve the pain and pressure.

At their core, they really are givers in a relationship and that’s what you should look for in a woman, a giver, not a taker!

Filipinas on the other hand, I found didn’t put nearly as much effort into their appearances compared to Vietnamese girls.

Their fashion sense is more of a girl-next-door type, a bit more casual.

Also, they can be a bit more direct and crass at times. Which I suppose is to be expected as the country is much more westernized compared to Vietnam.

But despite these shortcomings, they still remain quite feminine and are really eager to please their man. If you’re hungry, she will cook you up a feast in the kitchen, or if you’re sick, she will run down to the pharmacy to pick you up some meds.

It is with this great caregiving attitude that really makes them shine.

Dating both of these girls have their pros and cons, but for me personally, I prefer a more feminine partner that puts more effort towards their appearance. I prefer dating girls that are more mild-mannered and meek who typically encompass what I would define as being feminine.

Having said that though, if you prefer a more casual girl next door type of vibe who you can just hang out with and have fun, while she busts your chops, then perhaps a Filiphina is more suitable for you.

Lifestyle

Most Vietnamese girls are quite ambitious and industrious. Often times you will hear them talk about opening up some sort of business.

If you join any Vietnamese Facebook groups, your newsfeed will quickly become cluttered with Vietnamese girls trying to sell clothing, food, electronics, perfume, or jewelry. They take hustling to a whole new level here.

There are of course exceptions. If you go after the village country girl type that usually works at those spas and nail salons, then expect the girl to be quite contempt at what she is doing.

Her only goal is to nab some rich local guy and have him support her for the rest of his life while she sits at home playing on her phone all day. When this isn’t possible, she will resort to marrying the next guy in line.

If you’re dating the more well-educated city type of girl, she will be quite well-read. Often times you will see a few books lying around their house. Vietnamese girls love to read!

If you’re dating girls from the south such as in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon), they tend to spend a lot of their salary on consumer purchases such as iPhones, Charles & Keith handbags, or eating out at the millions of restaurants around the city.

Their motto is to live life in the moment.

Thus spending a lot of their money for current gratification.

If she’s from the north then expect her to be more frugal with her spending, instead opting to save a lot of it to prepare for the future in case of any emergencies.

Filipina girls, on the other hand, I found weren’t nearly as driven and hardworking but rather more complacent with their current situation.

Due to widespread poverty, a lot of them are unemployed and the focus is more on the moment.

If you are lucky you might run into an upper-middle-class or upper-class Filipina that are more aspiring, but for the average Filipina that you meet off online or the street, she won’t be anywhere near as ambitious as her Vietnamese counterpart.

Dating

In the Philippines, casual hookups is perfectly ok and socially acceptable. Teenage pregnancy is a big problem with 1 in 10 young girls between the ages of 15-19 becoming a mother. That statistic alone tells you how sex is viewed over there.

Filipino women are more Westernized than their Vietnamese counterparts and thus are way more open to dating foreigners. Dating foreign guys has become so common in the Philippines that locals don’t even bat an eye when they see a mixed couple.

Compare this to Vietnam, where girls can potentially get shamed for being seen with a foreigner and things become a lot more difficult.

In Vietnam, girls are very conservative and casual flings are more uncommon unless you run into a Westernized Vietnamese girl or a foreigner chaser.

The girls on average can take anywhere from 3-5 dates before considering sleeping with you. For the extremely religious and conservative types, this courtship can last until your married!

Due to the conservative nature of Vietnam, most of the girls that I encountered only ever considered dating as a means for marriage in the future.

This means casual relationships are off the table for a lot of females and you will oftentimes find the words “serious relationships only” on dating profiles.

If you’re leaning towards more casual relationships and whether girls would be open towards that then the Philippines would be a much better bet due to their more liberal outlook on dating, however, if you’re looking to have a long-term serious relationship, Vietnam would win hands down in this category.

English Levels

In this arena, the Filipinas really shine. Most Filipino girls can speak high levels of English as it was taught as a second language in school.

Learning Tagalog is not necessary, as you will both be able to communicate using English.

Vietnam, on the other hand, has very low English penetration levels.

In fact, if you leave the city center and venture off to another district, easily more than half of the residents won’t be able to communicate with you.

Even though English is taught in school, the focus is on grammar and writing, rather than speaking.

Most Vietnamese girls are also not confident and shy in their English speaking skills while the hotter-looking Vietnamese girls don’t even bother learning it. They don’t need to, they have more than plenty of rich suitors ready to lock them down.

If you’re looking to tap into higher quality girls then your gonna need to put in some effort into learning some Vietnamese.

Here’s a great phrasebook to get you started. It should cover most of the basic things you will need to communicate with such as introductions, ordering food and drinks, going to places, etc.

If you’re downright lazy and don’t want to bother learning another language, then the Philippines with their higher English penetration levels would make it a more suitable place for you.

Conclusion

Whether you’re looking for a girlfriend or just some companionship while you’re in Southeast Asia, Filipinas and Vietnamese girls both bring many wonderful qualities to the table that you would be hard-pressed to find in a lot of Western countries nowadays. Add to this fact, the amount of spine-less simps ready to throw their self-respect out the window just to get some female attention, and you have a recipe for disaster.

In my opinion, if you’re looking to have a long-term relationship and hopefully start a wonderful family one day, then Vietnamese girls make great companions.

Their femininity, beauty, smarts, and lifestyle make them great nurturing wives and mothers that you know will raise your kids right.

Now if on the other hand, you prefer to date girls who hold a more liberal view towards dating and are more Westernized, then perhaps Filipino women are your cup of tea.

Their sweet and bubbly outgoing personalities, coupled with that hot and feisty sex-appeal will make them a hard temptation to turn down.

Either way, you’ll be able to create some great everlasting memories with both types of girls.
